Bertica grew up in the Dominican Republic surrounded by tropical nature. As a little girl, she enjoyed going out in the rain and hiding under the plants - especially those with huge leaves. Although she considered all flowers to be beautiful, the Calla Lilly was especially interesting and graceful. In essence, its a single petal shaped into a funnel cone, balanced by it's long yellow spike. For some reason, it makes me think of a ballerina. Calla Lilly is known to symbolize beauty, purity, innocence, holiness and faithfulness. "Painted on the back of the butterfly is the Calla Lilly leaves seen from below with the sky in the background, this is what I loved looking at when I was little."
