Pat has been an artist for many years, working in a variety of materials from painting to metal to glass. Her journey with art glass began at a friend’s hot shop, where she was able to blow glass and learn how to work with this engaging medium. She now works in metal and kiln formed glass (known as fused glass). Intriguing transformations occur when glass softens and yields to the heat of the kiln.
Butterflies are a symbol of change. When you make an art piece, materials transform into a new whole. The butterflies created for Take Flight 2024 are made of kiln-formed art glass on both sides. The fronts of the butterflies were made of glass pieces, frits and enamels that were then fired and fused into one piece of glass in a butterfly shape. The art glass was then applied to the metal frames. The back sides of the metal were ground and painted with translucent paints. Four individual butterfly sections were made of fired and fused art glass then applied onto the metal.
A transaction fee of 5% plus $0.30 will be applied, to ensure that the intended bid amount is received by the organization.
