William Acheff is a master at trompe l’oeil, the “fool the eye” technique that gives a three-dimensional depth and quality to all of his paintings. His initial influences were the works of the 16th-century Dutch painters and 19th-century American still life artists. ***In one of those turns of fate that can change a life, well-known Italian artist Roberto Lupetti suggested Acheff create his own artistic path. It was 1969, when Lupetti stopped for a haircut where Acheff worked. He couldn’t resist an invitation to visit Lupetti’s studio, and soon began taking classes with him. “Something just clicked. My first drawing was the best of the class. I was excited; the master was excited. And because I could draw well, he immediately started me painting,” Acheff said.In addition to Acheff’s Prix de West Purchase Awards, he received the Masters of the American West Purchase Award in 1998 from the Autry Museum of the American West. You will find his paintings in Gallery's throughout the SW priced from $3,000 - Tens of thousands of dollars!
