Lightning struck the Lockwood Folly Pool house and rec center in the early morning hours of March 23, 2024. The building was a total loss.Two weeks earlier I spent an hour with my grandsons playing pool and shuffleboard.
I asked a POA Board member if the shuffleboard was not damaged in the fire, could I salvage it. Months later, I got a call from the POA Board member to be at the site by 8 AM. A backhoe was on site to start the demolition. The board was dirty but not damaged. I cut it into pieces and plan to make many cutting boards.
Included with the board is a jar of my homemade board butter. It is a blend of food-safe mineral oil and beeswax. Apply the board butter about once a month. Do not soak the board in water. Do not put it in the dishwasher. Enjoy.
