New TV and Cable Service for Bocas Seniors

Make this Christmas Special for Bocas Seniors with a new TV and Cable Service

Bocas Barge has been supporting the Bocas community during the Pandemic and has generously agreed to match donations up to $300.00 to purchase a new TV and pay cable for a year for our seniors at Casa de Asilo.

The Asilo Angels (our senior citizen friends of Casa de Asilo) ran an elderly home for years on Isla Colon, known as the “Asilo de Ancianos,”.The seniors get pretty lonely and have no TV or entertainment of any kind. What members of the Bocas del Toro community and the “Friends of Casa de Asilo” volunteer group do is provide significant and meaningful support for the residents by suppling food, medicine, hygienic supplies, furniture and repairs to the facilities, and medical care from The Floating Doctors. The volunteers have also made regular visits with special foods, treats, live music and entertainment.

In 2019 the facilities and surrounding seawall deteriorated to the point that the residents had to be evacuated due to flooding. The residents were moved to a new location on mainland Bocas del Toro, in Rámbala (Chiriqui Grande). It is much further to visit from Bocas Town, however before…
