The Burbank Sunrise Rotary Club is walking in support of our continuing effort to eradicate Polio worldwide. During the week of October 17 to the 24th, our club members will be challenging each other to walk the most steps while raising money for Polio Plus. October 24th is World Polio Day and we think it is very fitting to end the campaign on that day. Please show your support of our club by clicking the blue Donate button above!

Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years. Our club's goal aligns with Rotary International's goal of ridding the world of this disease.

Rotary is a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, and has reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent since their first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.

It’s crucial to eradicate polio from the last two countries where it remains endemic and to keep other countries polio-free.

If all eradication efforts stopped today, within 10 years, polio could paralyze as many as 200,000 children each year.

WHY ERADICATE POLIO?

To end polio, we must stop transmission of the virus in the three countries where it remains endemic: AfghanistanNigeria, and Pakistan
