Since 2009, JOYA Scholars has inspired and prepared students from families of low-income, Latinx, and immigrant communities in Fullerton for higher education. JOYA currently serves nearly 100 junior high and high school students from Fullerton’s Garnet and Maple neighborhoods. Through JOYA’s College Readiness Programs, scholars work closely with academic mentors and tutors, receive guidance on SATs and college applications, and engage in their local communities through service and leadership. By advocating for our neighbors, JOYA is supporting the stewardship of community development from within the communities themselves, and helping to alleviate the cycle of poverty through access to higher education.
