Bud Winter and his wife Helen attended most Olympic Games from 1952 ( Finland) until 1984 (Los Angeles) serving as consultants to the various governments on how to run the Track and Field events. Bud Winter, a U.S. Hall of Fame recipient, was one of the coaches himself in the 1960 Games. During the course of the Olympics, athletes and their families and friends would gather at the Olympic Villages and trade pins that represented their home countries.
These pins represent camaraderie, international brotherhood, and the pride of the giver for their homeland. While Bud Winter passed away over 45 years ago, his books, one called “Relax and Win, the Key to Championship in All Sports”, continue to sell. Sprinters, amateurs, and school track teams use the training sections which even Hussain Bolt practiced with.
