Mariner Sea Scout youth program. To draw in tourism, the City has been commissioning statues of significant individuals associated with the surf industry near the Dana Point bridge (PCH and Harbor Blvd). More statues are to be commissioned (by the Dana Point Entertainment Arts Council) at various locations in the harbor involving individuals who have contributed to the harbor's success and history.
Since 2005, the City of Dana Point has recognized Jim "Skip" Wehan as the "Tall Ship Captain" of Dana Point, and a significant contributor to maritime exploration through his founding of thereview his work here. We're asking all who have been inspired by Jim "Skip" Wehan to participate in this campaign, and help make the "Skip" statue a reality. Your generosity will help inspire generations of residence and tourists to reflect upon the wonder of the sea, the history of maritime exploration, and the joy of sailing.
