The Rotary Club of Downtown Los Angeles was founded in 1997. Members may live or work downtown, or they may just prefer the character of this particular club. Every Rotary club is different! Ours makes a special effort to reach out to young professionals, and we use the web and social media to broadcast our story.
The club is one of nearly 34,000 worldwide that are part of Rotary International, the world’s first service club operating in over 200 countries. The collective leadership and expertise of our 1.2 million members helps us tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges, locally and globally. We actively live out “service above self” through a commitment to the highest ideals in our professions, and by active engagement in our communities.
Normally, DTLA regular meetings are held twice monthly on the first and third Thursdays of each month, from 6:00 pm, at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Meetings typically consist of a guest speaker presentation and discussions of ongoing projects & events. After our meeting we'd have a social hour where we enjoy live Jazz music, cocktails, and great company. Now, with COVID-19, we're meeting by Zoom from our homes at 6:30 pm on those dates.
We also like to meet regularly for fellowship activities to enjoy the range of opportunities available in and around downtown Los Angeles. And we have a tradition of volunteering on the third Saturday of every month at The Midnight Mission; it's part of our dedication to a healthy quality of life where we live and work. The pandemic has meant that our outreach has shifted to our placement of DTLA "Little Libraries," where free books are available to all.
We are always looking to connect with new people, and welcome you to visit us at one of our meetings soon! To do so, please see our webpage: https://www.dtlarotary.org/
