Girls on the Run Orange County (GOTROC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that inspires
girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident, using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively
integrates running. Our program combines training for a 5K (3.1-mile) running event with lesson
plans designed to promote positive choices and an active lifestyle. Girls on the Run® was founded in
Charlotte, N.C., in 1996 by Molly Barker, a social worker and four-time Hawaii Ironman triathlete,
along with 13 girls. Girls on the Run International (GOTRi) remains based in Charlotte and has
expanded to 225 councils in 47 states and Canada, serving more than 754,000 girls to date. The goal
of the program is to help girls find and activate their limitless potential and confidence.
